Engineered Wood Flooring Technical Specifications
Construction
Traditionally, 2-layer engineered flooring typically comes in either a substantial 21 mm or 16 mm total thickness. This is achieved by employing either a 6 mm top layer bonded to 15 mm waterproof birch plywood or a 4 mm top layer bonded to a 12 mm ply core. Custom constructions are available upon request. Profiling Tongue and groove on all four sides, precision machined to within a hundredth of a millimetre. A bevelled tongue within the tongue and groove section facilitates easy jointing. Bonding Epoxied and cold pressed for optimal bonding results. Each board undergoes rigorous testing to ensure proper bonding. Samples of boards are routinely tested in laboratory conditions to assess bonding performance under extreme conditions. Top Layer Lamella The hardwood wear layer is cut from freshly sawn solid oak or ash boards and subsequently kiln dried. This process yields a uniform and lightweight top layer lamella, unlike cutting it from dried boards. The result is a top layer lamella with the same grain appearance as a solid board. All timber is sourced exclusively from FSC certified suppliers. Each wear layer is calibrated to a consistent thickness. Core Plywood Layer Constructed from waterproof birch plywood with nine core layers bonded together. Calibrated and sanded to perfection, using exclusively birch layers without mixing species. The nine-layer construction of quality plywood provides additional resistance and enhanced stability. Both FSC and CARB certified. Thermal properties For 21 mm thickness: Thermal conductivity: λ=0.17 W/mK. Thermal resistance: Rc=0.12 m2K/W. For 16 mm thickness: Thermal conductivity: λ=0.17 W/mK. Thermal resistance: Rc=0.09 m2K/W. Measurements Available in widths ranging from 100 mm to 360 mm and lengths in packs of 1800/2000/2400 mm with one nested layer. Engineered planks can be specially tailored to lengths up to 5 meters. Finishes Finished with two coats of natural oil, thoroughly dried between applications, or eight coats of non-toxic lacquer, providing a light natural appearance with exceptional durability. Various finishes such as antique distressed, fumed, double fumed, neutral lacquered, brushed and oiled, French grey, white wash, and more are available upon request. Other Maintaining a well-balanced moisture content in both the wear layer and core layer, kiln dried slowly to 8-10% to meet European standards. Utilising only authentic European Oak (Quercus Robur) with its beautiful, bright wood characteristics including grain, knots, and colour. Exclusively using certified European oak and water-resistant birch plywood. Energy used for kilning wood and heating warehouses is generated from recycled wood waste. |
