Latest Flooring Project - Morningside, Edinburgh

This recent project in Morningside, Edinburgh, was one of our most challenging and time-consuming installations. We started with subfloor preparation, securing the existing old floorboards to create a stable base. To reinforce the foundation, we installed brick plywood sheets throughout the entire flat.
Due to the raised floor level (9mm plywood plus 15mm parquet, totaling 24mm), we had to trim all doors and door frames to ensure a seamless and neat finish. Additionally, one of the bedrooms had a concrete slab that needed removal. To match it with the new subfloor level, we used a combination of self-levelling compound and plywood.

Parquet Flooring Installation

Once the subfloor preparation was complete, we moved on to installing the new flooring. The client selected 15mm/90mm/500mm engineered oak herringbone parquet flooring. We began the installation from the middle of the hallway to ensure a smooth transition between rooms. Since many older Edinburgh properties have uneven walls and angles, careful planning was required. Our goal was to align the herringbone pattern with the middle point of the large window in the main living room, which we achieved successfully.
The total installation covered two bedrooms, a living room, an office, a hallway, and a storage room. To complete the project, we custom-made wood-to-tile and wood-to-vinyl thresholds, ensuring a perfect match in height and colour with the new flooring.
