Chevron parquet for whole-house projects in the UK
Running a single chevron floor through a whole house, from hall to kitchen to living room, makes the rooms feel larger and lets the pattern lead the eye through doorways. It needs planning: the centre line of the chevron is set out from the main axis of the house, and thresholds, stair nosings and kitchen plinths are detailed in advance so the pattern meets them cleanly.
Concrete subfloors in new and renovated houses must be dry and flat before parquet is glued down: below 65% relative humidity and within SR1 flatness, with a latex levelling compound where needed. Questions about this project
Can chevron parquet be glued directly to a concrete floor?
Yes, once the concrete or screed is dry (typically below 65% relative humidity) and flat to SR1 tolerance. We test moisture, apply a levelling compound or moisture-suppressing primer if needed, then bond the engineered blocks with a parquet adhesive.
Why choose 140mm wide chevron blocks for a modern interior?
Wider, longer blocks such as 140mm x 700mm give a bolder, calmer chevron with fewer joints, which suits open-plan Scandinavian and minimalist interiors. Narrower blocks create a finer, more traditional pattern.
