Our step-by-step process

1. Design & product selection - Choose from engineered or solid wood flooring, parquet patterns and bespoke options. We’ll help you match tones, grades and plank sizes to your interior.
2. Technical survey & moisture checks - We document subfloor type, levels and moisture. If moisture is present, we specify appropriate damp proofing or moisture barriers before any wood is installed.
3. Subfloor preparation & levelling - Depending on your home, this may include plywood overlays, self-levelling compounds, joist levelling, or concrete preparation for a flat, stable base.
4. Underfloor heating (UFH), if required - We can supply and install both electric and wet (hydronic) systems. We design the floor build-up to be UFH-compatible and coordinate with our trusted Edinburgh plumbing partners where needed.
5. Professional installation - We use proven methods (glue-down, nail-down, or floating systems—depending on product and subfloor). Expansion gaps, pattern layout and alignment are set out precisely.
6. Finishing & carpentry - We handle door cutting and refitting, skirting installation or replacement, and bespoke colour-matched thresholds and profiles for a seamless look.
7. Clean-down & handover - Your rooms are left tidy, and we give you aftercare guidance and recommended cleaning products to keep your floor looking its best.

Subfloor preparation & levelling (done right)

• Concrete subfloors – Shot-vac/prime as needed, correct levels with self-levelling compound, and apply moisture barriers/DPM where required.
• Timber/joist floors – Joist levelling, structural checks, and plywood overlays for a flat, rigid base.
• ​Acoustic upgrades – Where sound transmission is a concern (e.g., flats/terraces), we can integrate acoustic underlays and perimeter isolation to reduce impact noise through the structure.

Moisture control & damp proofing
Wood flooring lives longest in dry, stable conditions. We can install liquid DPMs, membranes and compatible primers, and we only proceed when readings are within safe limits for the chosen product. This protects your investment from cupping, gaps or movement.

Carpentry, trims & finishing details

• Door trimming & refitting – We adjust doors to match the new floor height and ensure smooth operation.
