Drumsheugh Gardens is one of Edinburgh’s finest Italianate Victorian terraces and one of the preeminent residential addresses in the West End.  The development included a total of c.35,000 square feet with apartments ranging from 1,200 square feet one bed to a 3,000 square feet four bed lateral apartment.  The buildings were built in 1878 and formed the later parts of the Walker Estate. Hoff Parquet supplied and installed high-end engineered oak chevron parquet flooring to all the apartments. Also, we produced, supplied and installed bespoke stair parts for low profile steps and solid oak wood treads and risers to clad over metal frame.

Wooden floors from Hoff Parquet are also easy to maintain. Unlike carpets that require regular cleaning and maintenance, Hoff Parquet wood flooring only needs regular vacuuming and occasional damp mopping to keep it looking its best.
In conclusion, if you're looking for a durable, beautiful, and easy-to-maintain flooring option in Edinburgh, Hoff Parquet is worth considering. With its natural beauty and durability, a wood floor can add value to any property and make it look stunning for years to come.

Parquet for West End and New Town conversions

Edinburgh's West End is full of grand Victorian terraces now converted into apartments, where floors must meet modern acoustic standards between flats while still suiting ornate ceilings and tall sash windows. On developments of this type we plan the full build-up early: levelling, acoustic layers and the parquet itself, so finished heights work with doors, stairs and lift thresholds across every unit.

Chevron is a natural fit in rooms with strong period proportions, and a light oak tone keeps deep plans bright. For developers and contractors we can supply consistent batches across many apartments and make matching oak stair parts, nosings and thresholds in our own workshop network. Our Morningside showroom is a short trip from the West End, and we work with architects, main contractors and private owners through our trade programme.

Questions about this project

Can you supply and fit parquet across a whole apartment development?

Yes. For multi-unit projects we agree a specification and sample board, plan deliveries in phases and use our own installation team, so colour, grade and pattern set-out stay consistent across every apartment. Acoustic build-ups between flats are agreed with the design team in advance.

Can you clad a metal staircase in solid oak?

Yes. We measure the steel frame, make solid oak treads and risers to suit, including low-profile steps, and fit them to match the finish of the floor. This gives a timber staircase appearance while keeping the strength of the metal structure.
