Dark Oak herringbone parquet supply and fitting in London apartments
In these 60 m² apartments we supplied and installed our European oak herringbone parquet flooring in "Dark Oak" which has been sanded and factory pre-finished with eco friendly oil and hardwax oil.
Before installing our parquet flooring our installation team levelled the joists and laid plywood sheets to deliver a flat and extremely stable subfloor. The parquet flooring has been made to order to fit the interior space best, size 16mm/100mm/700mm. Another London project we were pleased to complete.

Why oak herringbone parquet suits London homes
Oak herringbone parquet flooring is a popular choice in London for several reasons.
Firstly, oak is a hardwood that is known for its durability and strength, making it a great option for high-traffic areas such as hallways and living rooms. This type of flooring is resistant to wear and tear, scratches, and dents, which is important in a busy and bustling city like London.
Secondly, oak herringbone parquet is a classic and timeless option that complements a wide range of interior styles, from traditional to modern. This flooring has been used in London homes for centuries, giving it a sense of history and character that adds to the charm of the space.
Thirdly, oak herringbone parquet flooring is a great investment as it adds value to a property. It is a premium and luxurious option that can increase the resale value of a home or property, which is important in the competitive London real estate market.
Lastly, oak herringbone parquet is a sustainable option when it is made from FSC- or PEFC-certified European oak, and engineered blocks make efficient use of the hardwood layer. This is increasingly important to homeowners who want to reduce their environmental impact.
In summary, oak herringbone parquet flooring is popular in London because of its durability, timeless appeal, investment value, and sustainability. It is a beautiful and practical option that can enhance the beauty and value of any home or property in the city.
Herringbone parquet in London flats
A large share of London homes are flats in converted Victorian houses or mansion blocks, built on timber joists that have often been notched for pipes and cables over the years. Levelling those joists and fixing plywood gives herringbone the flat, rigid base it needs, and a longer 700mm block suits the narrow, deep rooms common in conversions by running the pattern lengthways.
Before work starts in a London flat, check your lease: most require hard floors to be laid over an approved acoustic system and some need the managing agent's consent. We provide product data for that approval and build the acoustic layer into the floor height. Samples can be posted, and our installation team travels to London projects for surveys and fitting, handling preparation through to finishing.

Questions about this project
Do I need acoustic underlay for herringbone in a London flat?
Almost always. Most London leases require hard floors to include an acoustic underlay or isolating layer, and some specify a minimum impact sound reduction. We fit a suitable acoustic system under the plywood or parquet and can supply test data for your managing agent.
Can herringbone blocks be made to a custom size?
Yes. For this London project the blocks were made to order at 16 x 100 x 700mm so the pattern suited the room proportions. Custom lengths, widths and finishes need extra lead time, so we confirm sizes after the site survey.
