Project Overview
We were commissioned to supply and install premium-grade European oak herringbone parquet flooring for a high-end private residence in London, United Kingdom. The project was particularly challenging due to the dominance of marble and stone in the design, which required us to ensure a smooth and seamless transition between the different materials.
Challenges
One of the main challenges we faced was fitting our parquet flooring to match the height of the existing stone and tile floors. The architect’s vision for the space was to create a clean, uniform look that felt warm and cosy. This required precision in ensuring that the parquet flooring blended perfectly with the stone, while maintaining the desired aesthetic.
Product Selection
The architect chose our "Project White" herringbone parquet, which is 16mm thick, 100mm wide, and 600mm long. This premium-grade European oak flooring is finished with a durable matt coating that provides a smooth, white-toned surface. The finish not only adds warmth but also creates a consistent, clean look, with no knots and minimal colour variation, ideal for the elegant atmosphere of the residence.
Installation Process
The subfloor, prepared by Hoff Parquet, was equipped with underfloor heating. We meticulously ensured that all levels were perfectly aligned, matching the height of the tiles. The herringbone parquet was glued down using Stauf flexible parquet floor adhesives, allowing for slight movement and ensuring longevity over the heated subfloor.
Outcome
The end result was a beautifully smooth transition between the marble, stone, and parquet, maintaining the uniformity and warmth the architect envisioned. Our premium "Project White" parquet added the perfect touch of elegance to this luxury London home.
