About Black Live Edge Wood Flooring

What is Black Live Edge Wood Flooring? It is a dramatic engineered oak floor, its boards shaped by the tree's natural contours and finished in a black hard-wax oil. Designers use it in bars, boutiques and bold residential interiors.

Black oil sinks into the open grain, so oak texture stays visible beneath the colour rather than disappearing under paint-like pigment. The curved joints between pieces become fine dark lines, almost like contours on a map.

Because the finish is oiled rather than lacquered, a scratch can be repaired locally instead of refinishing the entire room.
