Rustic Grade European Walnut Wood Flooring

Rustic Grade European Walnut is full of life. European walnut is naturally lighter and cooler in tone than American black walnut, and in the rustic grade it shows its whole range – creamy sapwood, honey and smoky grey-brown heartwood, knots and wild figuring.

What to expect in rustic grade

• No restriction on colour variation – pale sapwood and dark heartwood mix freely
• Sound knots allowed without limit on quantity; larger knots filled
• Curls, burls and crotch figuring welcomed as part of the character
• Natural checks filled to a smooth, durable surface

The strong contrast between planks gives the floor a striking, almost painterly look, and the characteristic "smoky" grain of European walnut becomes the feature of the room. Over time a natural oil finish deepens the colour into a warm, golden patina.

Rustic Grade European Walnut suits characterful homes, cottages, period properties and design-led interiors where a bold, natural floor is wanted. It looks especially beautiful in wide planks and in herringbone or chevron parquet.
