Rustic Grade American Walnut Wood Flooring

Rustic Grade American Walnut is walnut at its most natural and expressive. The grade celebrates everything that makes black walnut so distinctive: deep chocolate heartwood next to creamy, honey-coloured sapwood, swirling grain, and a generous scattering of sound knots.

What to expect in rustic grade

• No restriction on colour variation – heartwood and pale sapwood appear side by side
• Sound knots allowed without limit on quantity; larger and repaired knots filled with colour-matched filler
• Small natural splits and checks filled to a smooth, durable surface
• The most characterful and most economical walnut grade

Because walnut naturally carries a wide spread of tones, a rustic floor shows the full palette of the tree – from almost black to warm caramel – so no two planks look the same. Under a natural oil or hard-wax oil finish the contrast becomes softer and richer over time, as walnut gently mellows towards a warm golden brown.

Rustic Grade American Walnut suits relaxed, characterful interiors: period townhouses, country homes, warm modern kitchens and living rooms where the floor is meant to be a feature. It works beautifully in wide planks and in herringbone or chevron parquet, where the colour variation creates a lively, hand-crafted pattern.
