Installation Process
The installation began with the careful removal of the existing flooring and skirting boards. This stage required precision to avoid damaging the walls and to prepare the room for a fresh start. Once cleared, our team focused on the most important step for long-term performance – the subfloor.
We installed high-quality plywood sheets, meticulously laid to create a perfectly level, stable, and solid foundation. This preparation is crucial, as even the finest engineered oak flooring will only perform at its best when supported by a flawless subfloor.
With the groundwork complete, we delivered the engineered oak planks to the property and allowed them to acclimatise for 48 hours. This ensures the wood adjusts naturally to the home’s temperature and humidity levels, minimising the risk of movement after installation.
The flooring was installed using a combination of glue-down and secret-nailing techniques. This dual method offers maximum stability, prevents unwanted movement, and delivers a clean, seamless surface free of visible fixings.
One of the technical challenges of this project was achieving a smooth transition between the oak flooring and the tiled areas. The tiles were slightly lower than the new wood floor, so our skilled fitters expertly sanded and adjusted the plank edges. This delicate process ensured a perfectly flush finish, eliminating any trip hazards and enhancing the visual flow between materials.
To add an extra layer of sophistication, we also cladded one feature wall with the same engineered oak planks. This design choice tied the entire space together, bringing warmth, texture, and a natural focal point that complemented the new flooring beautifully.
The result was not only a flawless wood floor but a complete transformation of the interior, elevating the home with timeless elegance and modern craftsmanship.
