A solid oak desk with a thick 4 cm top and sculpted hourglass legs. Pick a fixed shelf or a pull-out tray, and a size from 120 to 180 cm wide.

The wood colour options run from pale raw, natural and bleached oak through medium and dark oak to smoked and graphite oak, with American walnut as a naturally dark, fine-grained alternative.

About the Flux Solid Oak Desk

You notice the legs first. Each one narrows at the middle like an hourglass, so the desk has a sculpted, slightly sculptural look that sets it apart from the usual straight-legged workstation. Above them sits a chunky 4 cm top in solid oak, which gives the whole desk a reassuring weight.

The Flux desk is handmade in Europe from solid oak, or from American walnut if you like a naturally darker wood with a fine grain. You choose the width and whether to add a fixed shelf or a pull-out tray. The tray is neat for pens, papers or a keyboard, clearing the surface when you finish for the day. The top is treated with natural oils and waxes, then a hydrophobic coating helps it resist water and stains; it needs periodic maintenance to keep that protection.

It looks right as the centrepiece of a home office, but its good looks also suit a living room, studio or small boutique office. The generous top works in a high-ceilinged Georgian room, while the soft shapes complement Japanese-inspired, organic modern and minimal flats. At 77 cm high it is a standard working height.
