About the Rosto Solid Oak Desk

This is a desk for people who like a tidy working surface. A plain slab of solid oak sits on a black lacquered steel frame, and two shallow drawers hide pens, chargers and notebooks until you need them. There are no handles to snag on: a light press opens each drawer on its push-to-open slides.

The top is oak glued up from wide strips that run the full length, with no joins along it, then sanded smooth. It is 2 cm thick, which keeps the look slender while still giving a firm place to work. A natural oil and wax finish brings out the grain, and a hydrophobic coating helps it resist water and stains. Like any oiled surface it will want occasional maintenance.

The wood and steel pairing is flexible. It sits comfortably in a Scandinavian study, a loft-style flat, or a warmer boho spare room, and it is slim enough to fit in the bay of a Victorian terrace or against the wall of a compact modern flat. Several widths and depths are available, so you can match it to the room rather than the other way round.

Rosto is a collection, and the desk partners well with the Rosto Solid Oak Chest of Drawers for extra storage, or the Rosto Solid Oak Bedside Cabinet if your workspace shares a bedroom.
