A solid oak desk with quiet drawers and a concealed space for cables and chargers. The frame narrows towards the front to leave extra legroom for long working days.

The wood colour options range from raw and natural oak, which keep a light, true-to-wood look, through bleached, medium, smoked, dark and graphite oak, which are stained or tinted for a deeper or cooler tone; the grain stays visible in every one.

Dimensions: height 77 cm; top thickness 2 cm. Width and depth as selected.
Material: solid oak, top glued from wide strips not joined at length, polished.

Storage: two or three drawers (depending on size) on quiet runners; concealed compartments at the back for cables and appliances.
Finish: natural oils and waxes, plus a hydrophobic, stain- and water-repellent coating (periodic maintenance required).
Delivery: supplied for self-assembly.

About the Piko Solid Oak Desk

If you work from home, the Piko was designed with you in mind. The solid oak body narrows slightly towards the front, which looks light and leaves extra room for your knees and legs when you sit for hours at a time. Across the front, two or three drawers, depending on the size you choose, hold stationery, papers and chargers, and they run on quiet runners that are finished as carefully as the exterior.

At the back, concealed compartments take the cables and power adaptors that normally trail across a desk. Plug in a laptop, monitor and lamp, tuck the leads away, and the worktop stays clear. Anyone who splits the week between home and office will appreciate that small convenience.

The top is solid oak, 2 cm thick, glued from wide strips not jointed along their length and polished smooth. It is handmade in Europe and made to order, then finished with natural oils and waxes plus a hydrophobic coating that repels water and stains. Like other oiled surfaces, it needs a little periodic maintenance.

Where it works

The crisp edges and straight lines suit modern, minimalist, Japanese-inspired and Scandinavian rooms. It fits a corner of a living room in a modern flat, a bay window in a Victorian terrace or a spare bedroom in a Georgian townhouse, as well as a studio or small office.
