About the Imelo Solid Oak Wall Lamp

Imelo is a wall lamp that behaves more like a piece of sculpture. Its outline is organic and rounded rather than geometric, cut from solid oak and handmade in Europe to order. Lit or unlit, it adds a soft, hand-made feature to a plain wall.

At 80cm tall, 38cm wide and 11cm deep, it has enough presence to hang on its own, for example above a console table in a hallway, beside a mirror, or on the wall behind a reading chair. It is slim enough for a landing or a narrow Edinburgh tenement passage where there is little room to spare. In a modern, minimalist flat it supplies the natural material that those rooms sometimes lack, while in a Georgian or Victorian home its simple form sits quietly next to period cornicing.

The light is gentle and decorative, so Imelo suits evenings and background lighting rather than close work. A dimmer can be added for those who like to set the level by mood. The lamp can be connected directly to the electrical installation or supplied with a cable and plug, which gives you a choice between a permanent fitting and one that is easy to move if you rearrange the room or are renting.

The solid oak is oiled and waxed to show its grain, and a protective coating helps resist stains and water, so you can live with it without fuss.
