Piko Solid Oak Bedside Cabinet

About the Piko Solid Oak Bedside Cabinet

Sharp edges and clean geometry define the Piko range, and this bedside cabinet is a small, neat example. It is a compact oak box with a drawer, kept deliberately plain so the wood and the proportions provide the interest.

Despite the modest footprint of 35cm wide and 40cm deep, the drawer is a useful size. It swallows a book, glasses, a phone charger and a remote or two, leaving the top clear for a lamp, an alarm clock or a glass of water. At 42cm high, it sits at a convenient reach beside many beds, though it is worth checking against your mattress height.

The cabinet is made entirely of solid oak, handmade in Europe and finished with natural oils and waxes plus a hydrophobic coating that resists water and stains, which is helpful for a surface that often meets a glass or a mug. It arrives complete, so you can unpack it and put it into use.

The style fits minimalist, Scandi, Japanese, modern and loft interiors. In a Victorian bedroom or a tenement flat, the strong lines also give a pleasing contrast to ornate cornices and period fireplaces. A pair, one on each side of the bed, makes a tidy, balanced arrangement.

It belongs to a family that includes a bed, so it makes an easy match with the Piko Solid Oak Bed for a complete bedroom set.
