Trika is built around the number three. Three round legs hold up a circular top, and that is all you need to see. With a triangle of supports, the table stays steady and looks simple, and a circle has no awkward corners to catch a passing knee.

The table is thick where it counts. The top is 4 cm of oak made from wide strips with no joins along their length, then polished, so the grain stays broad and uninterrupted. The legs flow straight into the top, giving the table an organic feel that suits minimalist rooms and more eclectic ones with a mix of vintage and colourful pieces.

It is designed to be used in groups. The sizes and heights are made to overlap, so a smaller table can tuck partly beneath a larger one, creating a loose composition that you can pull apart when guests come. If you order two tables, the legs can be swapped between them, so you can create a different mix of diameter and height than the one you first chose.

That makes Trika a clever choice for a small Edinburgh flat where the living room has to flex, and for a bigger Georgian drawing room where a cluster looks good by the fireplace. Beyond natural oak shades, painted colours including cobalt, olive, terracotta and wine are available, as well as black. Each table is handmade in Europe from solid oak.
