We recently had the pleasure of supplying and installing our European engineered oak wood flooring for a private client in London. The project involved a new-build apartment, and the client sought a natural, warm-looking floor that would complement their minimalist design vision.
Choosing the Perfect Oak Flooring The process began with the client ordering free samples for colour reference through our website. We promptly posted the samples at no charge. After careful consideration, the client selected the colour "Nr 3" from our Timeless Engineered Oak Flooring collection. This option is a favourite among our clients, known for its natural appeal and premium quality. "Nr 3" features a high-grade oil finish and top-quality hardwax oil protection, ensuring it won’t yellow over time. The planks we supplied measured 16mm thick, 210mm wide, and 1800-3000mm long in natural grade. This grade includes some knots and minimal colour variation, offering a subtle character while maintaining a clean aesthetic. Installation Details Our wood flooring installation team began by preparing the screeded subfloor to ensure a smooth and stable base for the tongue-and-groove planks. As the apartment was unfurnished and without skirting boards, the process was straightforward. To enhance the minimalist look, we strategically used the longer 3-metre planks in the hallway and open-plan living room. This approach created a seamless flow, accentuating the spaciousness of the areas. The planks were glued down securely, ensuring durability and longevity. The total area covered with our flooring was 117 square metres, and the job was completed in just 3 days by our highly skilled floor fitters. Once the flooring was installed, we fitted skirting boards to complete the look. The walls were then painted white, complementing the natural tones of the flooring and creating a bright, clean, and simple aesthetic.
