About the Flux Solid Oak Bed

The Flux bed keeps things simple. Its frame is cut from solid oak and shaped with softened, rounded edges, so the outline looks lighter than the 4 cm thick timber would suggest. The headboard rises to 90 cm, giving you something comfortable to lean against without dominating the room.

Underneath, a central slat runs the length of the base and is carried by an extra leg, so the slatted frame you choose is properly supported down the middle. The bed is sold without a slatted base or mattress, which lets you pair it with whichever you already own or prefer. The frame sits 37 cm off the floor, and a 24 cm mattress will stand about 12 cm proud of it, giving a generous but not towering sleeping height. There is 20 cm of clearance underneath for a vacuum or a flat storage box.

Each bed is handmade in Europe from solid oak and made to order, then treated with natural oils and waxes plus a hydrophobic coating that helps the surface shrug off water and stains.

Where it works

The soft geometry sits comfortably in Japanese-inspired and Scandinavian bedrooms and in organic modern schemes. In a Georgian or Victorian bedroom with tall ceilings, the clean lines give the room some quiet; in a compact modern flat, the low frame keeps the space feeling open.

It belongs to the Flux family, so you can add the Flux Solid Oak Dining Chair or the Flux Solid Oak Bar Stool elsewhere in the home for a matching, rounded look.
