A generous, softly curved armchair with a solid oak frame and upholstered seat, handmade in Europe to order. Its rounded form suits living rooms, bedrooms and reading corners.

Natural, raw and bleached oak keep the grain light, medium and smoked oak add warmth, graphite and dark oak go deeper and greyer, and American walnut is a richer brown timber.

About the Hoya Armchair with Solid Oak Frame

Curves do most of the talking on this armchair. The seat, back and arms run into one another in a single flowing shape, so there are no hard corners to catch the eye or the shin. It is a large chair, but the rounded outline keeps it from looking heavy.

The frame is solid oak, shaped and finished by hand in a European workshop, with the upholstery fitted over the top in your choice of Favola, Mare or Vinci fabric. The grain stays visible on the wood, so each chair carries slightly different markings. The frame is treated with natural oils and waxes, then given a hydrophobic coating that helps it shrug off spills and marks.

In a UK home it works well beside a bay window in a Victorian or Georgian living room, where the soft shape contrasts with strong cornicing and tall sashes. It is equally at ease in a compact modern flat, where a single chair with a low, open profile can anchor a reading corner without crowding the room. Offices, waiting areas and quiet corners of hospitality spaces suit it too.

Seat depth is 70cm and seat height 39cm, a relaxed, low-slung sitting position. The chair arrives complete, so there is nothing to put together.
