About the Hoya Solid Oak Bar Stool

Bar stools tend to be an afterthought, but this one has real shape. The Hoya has soft, organic curves and a seat that is carved to a contour, so it feels more comfortable than a flat board when you perch for a long breakfast or a glass of wine.

It is made of solid oak by hand in a European workshop. You can choose a version that suits your habits: the bare profiled wooden seat, an upholstered seat without a back, or an upholstered seat with a backrest. Upholstered versions come in Favola, Mare or Vinci fabric. An American walnut option is available for a darker, richer wood.

The height can be adjusted, which makes the stool useful in two different settings. Set it higher for a tall bar or kitchen counter, or lower for an island at a standard worktop height. That flexibility is helpful in UK kitchens, where counter heights vary between a Victorian conversion, a new-build flat and a bespoke fitted kitchen.

The wood is finished with natural oils and waxes and a hydrophobic coating that repels water and stains, which is a practical choice for a seat that sits close to cooking and spills. The stool arrives complete.

It belongs to the Hoya family, so it sits comfortably beside the Hoya Solid Oak Dining Chair and the other pieces if your kitchen opens onto a dining area.
