About the Piko Solid Oak Dining Chair

Straight edges, tapered shapes and a backrest with just enough curve: the Piko chair is built around a simple geometric idea and then refined where it matters. The profiled back is shaped to support your spine, which is why people tend to stay put at a Piko table long after the plates are cleared.

The whole frame is solid oak, handmade in Europe, and its slender members give the chair visual lightness despite its sturdy build. You can choose a plain wooden seat for a pared-back look, or an upholstered seat in one of three fabrics for extra softness. Natural oils and waxes protect the timber, and a hydrophobic coating helps it resist water and stains, though it needs periodic maintenance like any oiled wood.

The design speaks to Scandinavian, Japanese-inspired, modernist and retro interiors alike. It looks right in a bright modern kitchen-diner and also holds its own in a Victorian dining room, where the clean lines set off period features instead of competing with them. Because the footprint is modest, a set of four or six fits around most tables without crowding.

Within the collection, the Piko Solid Oak Kitchen Stool offers a taller version of the same idea for breakfast bars, and the Piko Solid Oak Armchair and Piko Solid Oak Footstool carry the look into the living room.
