About the Hoya Solid Oak Dining Chair

The Hoya takes its outline from a leaf. Every junction is softened and rounded, and the broad, profiled backrest curves in to meet your spine, so the chair stays comfortable through a long dinner or an afternoon at the table.

The frame is handmade in Europe from solid oak, with American walnut available if you prefer a darker grain. The seat is upholstered in your choice of fabric. Although the construction is properly solid, the chair looks slim and light, which helps in smaller rooms where bulky seating would crowd the floor. It is finished with natural oils and waxes, then given a water- and stain-repellent coating, so the wood keeps its natural texture while coping with everyday spills.

The gentle shapes suit modern flats and calm, minimal interiors, and they sit happily against the high ceilings and period cornicing of a tenement or Georgian living room. Because the chair is not tied to the dining room, it also works as a seat for a desk, a window nook or a lounge corner.

It is designed to sit with other pieces in the Hoya range. Teamed with the matching Hoya table you get a unified set, but the chair is just as comfortable on its own as a single accent.
