Lup keeps things simple. A round solid oak top sits on a single central frame, and the absence of corner legs means you can pull chairs up wherever you like. Nobody has to sit awkwardly beside a leg, which is a practical advantage over many four-legged designs.

The underside of the top is milled back around the edge, so the 3.5cm thickness appears lighter and more refined. The top is made from wide oak slats that are not joined end to end, glued in layers, and then brushed or polished. A brushed finish gives a more tactile feel, while polished is smoother. The grain is left to show, so the character of each table comes from the wood itself.

The top is protected by natural oils and waxes with a hydrophobic coating that repels water and stains. Everything is handmade in Europe and made to order, and it arrives for self-assembly.

At 76cm high, Lup suits standard dining chairs. The 100cm diameter fits a small kitchen or a tenement flat, where a round shape saves the corners that catch hips and knees. The larger sizes suit a family dining room in a Victorian or Georgian home, or an open-plan modern space. The look is neutral enough for both modern and traditional interiors, and you can team it with almost any chair.
