A retro-leaning armchair with a sharp-edged solid oak frame and soft upholstered cushions that unzip for washing. Suited to living rooms, libraries and home office corners.

The wood colour options run from pale raw, natural and bleached oak through medium and dark oak to smoked and graphite oak, so the frame can sit quietly or stand out against your fabric.

About the Piko Solid Oak Armchair

Hard geometry and soft cushions: that contrast is what defines the Piko armchair. The solid oak frame is all clean angles, with straight legs and crisp joints, while the seat and back are plump upholstered cushions that invite you to sink in with a book.

The cushions have a springy filling and a high-quality fabric cover, and each cover has a sewn-in zip so you can take it off and wash it. That is a real help in a living room that sees daily use. The frame is handmade in Europe from solid oak, and is finished with natural oils and waxes plus a hydrophobic coating that repels water and stains. The coating needs periodic maintenance to stay at its best.

The proportions were worked out carefully, from the seat to the angle of the back and the joins in the frame, so the chair stays comfortable through long sittings. Its slightly retro character fits a mid-century or Scandinavian scheme, and it settles in just as easily next to a Victorian fireplace or in the corner of a modern flat. It makes a good reading chair, a library seat or a relaxed spot in a home office.
