A slim-legged sofa on a solid oak frame with zipped, washable cushions. Remove them for a single bed, or choose the extension to open out into a double.

The wood colour options run from raw and natural oak, which stay light and close to the unstained look, to bleached, medium, smoked, dark and graphite oak, which give the frame a paler, deeper or cooler tone while the grain stays visible.

Dimensions: seat width 192 cm; seat depth with cushions 52 cm; frame height 75 cm; total width 200 cm; total depth 82 cm; height with cushions 92 cm.
Sleeping surface: 192 x 72 cm with the cushions removed (one person). With the extension option, 144 x 192 cm (two people); the upper mattress is 20 cm thick.

Material: solid oak frame; upholstered cushions with sewn-in zips for removal and washing.
Finish: natural oils and waxes on the wood, plus a hydrophobic, stain- and water-repellent coating.

About the Piko Solid Oak Sofa

The Piko sofa pairs a crisp, angular oak frame with soft cushions, and the two work well together. Slender square-edged legs hold the seat clear of the floor, giving it a light look, while the cushions are deep enough to sit in comfortably for an evening.

The sofa has a second job. Lift the cushions off and the frame becomes a bed 192 x 72 cm, which is right for one person, so it makes sense in a study, a spare room or a small flat where the lounge sometimes has to host a guest. Choose the extension version and it opens into a full 144 x 192 cm sleeping surface for two, using a double mattress whose upper layer, 20 cm thick, rests directly on the floor once unfolded.

Upkeep is easy. Every cushion has a discreetly sewn-in zip, so covers come off for washing. The oak frame is handmade in Europe, made to order, and finished with natural oils and waxes and a hydrophobic coating that repels water and stains.

Where it works

Its geometry suits Japanese-inspired, Scandinavian, modern retro and minimalist rooms. In an Edinburgh tenement with high ceilings, the open leg design stops a sofa of this width from swallowing the floor; in a Victorian terrace, it brings a cleaner note to a traditional room.
