A round solid oak table with an interlaced black and oak base. The extending version hides its runners inside the top and opens by 70 cm to seat extra guests.

The wood colour options range from raw and natural oak, which keep a light, true-to-wood look, through bleached, medium, smoked, dark and graphite oak, which are stained or tinted for a deeper or cooler tone; the grain stays visible in every one.

Dimensions: height 76 cm. Diameter as selected.
Top thickness: approx. 4 cm (non-extendable); approx. 2 cm with 7.5 cm at the edge (extendable). The extendable version extends by 70 cm.

Material: solid oak, glued in layers from wide strips not joined at length, brushed or polished; base elements lacquered black and oiled in the colour of the top.
Finish: natural oils and waxes, plus a hydrophobic, stain- and water-repellent coating (periodic maintenance required).

About the Rosto Solid Oak Round Extending Table

A round table is the friendliest shape for a conversation, and the Rosto adds a trick: choose the extending version and the circle opens out by 70 cm when the numbers go up. The mechanism lives inside a top that is 7.5 cm thick at the edge, so the guides are out of sight and nothing on the outside gives away that the table can change shape.

Underneath, the base is made of interwoven elements, lacquered in black and oiled to match the tabletop. Walk around the table and the pattern shifts, so it looks different from every seat. The top is solid oak, glued in layers from wide strips that are not jointed along their length, and you can choose a brushed or a polished surface.

Non-extending tables have a simpler top of about 4 cm. The extending version measures about 2 cm in the centre, thickening to 7.5 cm at the edge. Both are handmade in Europe and made to order, and are finished with natural oils and waxes plus a hydrophobic coating that repels water and stains. Like any oiled table, it needs occasional maintenance.

Where it works

The circular shape suits kitchen-diners and smaller dining rooms where a rectangular table would block the route through. In a modern flat it keeps traffic flowing; in a Georgian or Victorian bay window it makes a natural spot for family meals.
